Joining The Great Conversation in Classic Literature

So what makes a conversation 'great'? Supposedly... great authors engage in a 'great' conversation.... over the 'great' ideas. When you start to get inside the conversation, one discovers these authors speak to each other across the ages. Older guys speak to the ages in the future, and younger authors answer back and address the folks who are already dead. So its a discussion that transcends time... and space.... "Great authors have established themselves as having compelling arguements and narratives. And while you may disagree with the ideas in and of themselves, they are great in that they have stood the test of time and and shaped the civilization we live in today. Since it's all on written out on texts, we, in the 21st century get to get in on the conversation if we so choose. So this is like talk radio vintage / antique style. Surprise surprise... I'm not quite sure yet, but I have a hunch that many of the topics under discussion in the books of antiquity are the same ideas radio talk blathers about today.
Stay TUNED.... Get the historical perspective.... not on trivial pursuits such as the latest gossip on people.... but on ideas that we live with today.

On the Move again.... Do I know what's going on?

Moving from Wakarusa to Annapolis reflects more than just a physical move. This is what I know. While I would have been happy to settle in for a secure job in northern Indiana and the predictable, it was not meant to be. Every fiber in my being knows this is a God-thing. I drove off the John Adams High School parking lot this past May knowing I am not in the right spot. There is another work that I am being asked to do. I told my English Dept chair ..." I am the piece of the puzzle that is so nearly a fit.... but push it, pry it, squeeze, twist and turn it..it is not exactly a fit...there is something else." She says... " we're sorry to have you go, but I wish you a post where you will find so much bliss.... so much joy that I have in doing what I do... I'm lucky."

After 39 years of teaching, she says, "I will never retire: I have been teaching before God was born and will probably retire after He dies. " Is this warped or great theology?

The English Dept chair at JAHS would not be labeled as an Evangelical believer. Nonetheless, she has found what her Creator has made for her to do and she is extremely fulfilled in what she is doing.

THAT is my quest... that is what I am up to. Though it feels precarious in these uncertain times, letting doubt, fear, uncertaintly and what ever control me is not much of an option. As the song goes," ain't nothin' gonna slow me down, on no.. I got to keep on movin... I want to move ' into HIS plan for my life.
